Finding online music lessons and other resources for musicians and music students

Whether you're a seasoned musician, or just starting out, it's not always easy to find the right help. This blog has been constructed to help overcome this problem. Some of the links are for totally free music lessons and related information, and some are links to programmes where you'll have to pay for tuition. South African website for musicians

If you're a South African musician, you should log on with a website called ThatGig.
They supply a wonderful service, where you can sell your music online, and where you can advertise your band. It costs nothing to sign on; they take a small commission when you do business. You can have a look at their website by clicking on "South African website for musicians" above.

Learning to improvise

I came across a wonderful program that you can download FOR FREE; it's a great way to learn improvisation, and as an extra bonus, you get a chord fake book to use with it, so you can generate hundreds of backtracks to practice with.

I find it quite amazing that this programme has been made available for free; no strings attached, and they don't try to sell you anything. It's free, free, free, and it's really nice. If you don't get anything else off this page, download this one; you won't regret it.

Can perfect pitch be learned?

Most of us have been led to believe that perfect pitch is something that we're born with. I was recently asked for my views on the subject, and I had to admit that I really didn't know. I decided to do some research on the subject, and I was surprised to find that there are several programmes out there that claim to be able to teach any normal person how to develop perfect pitch. Having read several reviews, the one program that seems to be consistently rated as the best (and it's said to kick in quickly, about 6 weeks) is the PurePitch system.
